Suzette Papadakis is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor by the National Board of Certified Counselors.  She has worked since 1996 in mental health and substance abuse service industry providing mental health care to individuals, couples and families. Suzette has worked with a wide range of issues such as addiction and recovery, affairs, domestic violence, trauma, and parenting issues. She is a Certified Gottman Therapist and has an expertise in treating couples with addiction issues.  Additionally, she is trained in EMDR therapy (level 1 and 2) by the EMDRIA Insitiute.   Suzette is a certified facilitator in the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) program.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin with a minor in Religious Studies. Suzette graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Master’s Degree in Human Services Counseling at National-Louis University in Wheaton, Illinois.  She has also received recognition by the National Honor Society for Human Service Education.

Suzette has received recognition for her contributions in mental health. In 2016 she was awarded The Best Clinical Director of IL and was recognized in the Who’s Who Honors in Professional Excellence. She is also listed in Cambridge Who’s Who for Executives and Professionals. The American Psychiatric Association awarded her for her role as a collaborating researcher in the DSM-5. The American Counseling Association has also acknowledged Suzette for her trauma work with students at NIU and VT tragedies.

Suzette is an empathic, licensed clinical professional counselor that utilizes research-based approaches to help people to improve their lives. Her treatment philosophy is based on the fundamental importance of the therapeutic relationship, which provides a safe environment to explore past patterns and interpersonal dynamics. She has the belief that meaningful and healthy relationships with oneself and others are what bring purpose and meaning to life.
