Anxiety
Anxiety is our body's normal response to stress, and it helps us in times of danger.
Anxiety disorders arise when our levels of anxiety or fear become excessive and interfere with our normal functioning. These disorders are very common, affecting at least 30% of the population at some point in their lives.
Fortunately, there are many effective treatments for anxiety, including a variety of psychotherapy techniques and medications.
Addiction
Substance addiction is a complex disorder characterized by compulsive drug or alcohol use. This typically leads to significant disruptions in daily living and devastating effects on relationships and health.
Similar types of addictions can occur with other behaviors such as gambling, sex, and others. Learn more at our addiction page.

Depression
Depression strikes millions of people each year and often recurs. Some of the common symptoms – sadness, low energy, loss of motivation, fatigue, and tearfulness – can be painful and debilitating. In addition, suicidal thinking can occur, creating a risk of death.
Numerous effective treatments are available, but an individual's responsiveness to each type of treatment may depends on their condition and medical history. Thus, each person’s treatment plan is developed based on their individual needs.
Bipolar Disorder
Although less common than Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder can be equally as devastating. This condition causes extreme shifts in a person's mood, typically between feelings of depression and euphoria. These dramatic mood variations can cause behavior changes that are frustrating and dangerous.
Numerous effective treatments are available, but an individual's responsiveness to each type of treatment may depends on their condition and medical history. Thus, each person’s treatment plan is developed based on their individual needs.
OCD
Obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, is a condition that affects many people around the world. It is characterized by having persistent and unwanted thoughts, images, or impulses that cause anxiety or distress. These are called obsessions. People with OCD also feel the need to perform certain actions or rituals to reduce their anxiety or prevent something bad from happening. These are called compulsions.
OCD can interfere with a person’s daily life and relationships. It can make it hard to focus on work, school, or hobbies. It can also cause emotional distress and isolation. People with OCD may spend hours a day performing their compulsions or avoiding situations that trigger their obsessions.
However, OCD is a treatable mental health disorder that can be managed with proper care. There are effective treatments available for OCD, such as medication and psychotherapy, which can help reduce the intensity of the obsessions and compulsions. With treatment, people with OCD can improve their quality of life and regain control over their thoughts and actions.
Postpartum Depression
Most new mothers feel stressed, sad, anxious, lonely, or moody after giving birth. However, sometimes there is a more severe mood disorder, affecting 10 to 15% of new mothers. Postpartum depression can cause feelings of sadness, hopelessness, anxiety, guilt, and detachment from the baby, and it can interfere with the mother’s ability to bond with and care for her child, as well as her own well-being.
It can also affect the father and other family members who may feel helpless or frustrated. Postpartum depression is not a sign of weakness or failure, but a treatable illness.
